ANI II Digits

Automatic Number Identification (ANI) II digits are not dialed by telephone subscribers. Rather, ANI II digits are two-digit pairs sent with the originating telephone number as part of the signaling that takes place during the setup phase of a call. These digits identify the type of originating station.

There are no assignment guidelines for ANI II digits. Applicants for ANI II digit assignments should approach the Industry Numbering Committee (INC). If the INC reaches consensus that the requested assignment is warranted, it will instruct NANPA to make the assignment.
